Ellie Chamberland Color & Light

Shot with a Kodak EasyShare MD853 in the open shade color balance setting.  I really like the warmth the setting and the sunset added to the photo.  I also like the hard light that the sun brings to this photo.  It creates some great contrast.

Aodhan Hayter Assignment #6

Shot with a Pentax K10D f/4 0.125s 18mm ISO 400 WB-Tungsten
Turned the lamp on this decoration and shot some hard light as you can see from the defined shadows. I warmed it up just a tad in photoshop.

Soft light v Hard light

This photo exhibits hard light and a warm color balance. It was taken with a Canon EOS REBEL T3i at f/4.5 and 37mm, ISO 320, shutter speed 1/50. I noticed the awesome lighting of the setting sun as I was passing these trees at dawn, and couldn't resist photographing them.

Soft and Hard Light by Wren Withers

This is an example of soft light.  It was pretty shady which was nice because I was using a slow shutter speed to get the effect of the water.  the camera I used is a Canon rebel T2i 550D.

Here is an example of hard light.  It gives a lot of texture and detail to the yellow Aspen trees and the mountain in the back.  Both of these pictures were taken in Big Cottonwood Canyon on Oct 20th.

Kimberly Roach Light (Lesson 6)

Shot with a Nikon D40, 1/50 at f 5.6, 50mm ISO800. I used hard light then in post added a cool filter.

Amanda Nelson - Fast and Slow Shutter Speeds

I was in Disneyland over Fall Break and thought it would be perfect to take fast shutter speed while spinning on the infamous teacups. It was fun taking pictures while spinning and I captured some great ones. This was one of my favorites.
Shot with an Olympus FE-370, shutter speed 1/250, f/5.6, ISO 64, focal length 6.3 mm

This one I took by semi accident leaving the bench up 1400 East. I turned around liked the simplicity of just one street lamp across from such a beautiful view.
Shot with an Olympus FE-370, shutter speed 1/13, f/3.5, ISO 1600, focal length 6.3 mm

Reiko Turner - Shutter Speeds

The first image was taken with a 1/250 shutter speed. The singer is swinging her arms up and down.

The second image was taken at 1/30 shutter speed. In combination with the low light situation, the subjects appear blurred.

Kienan Hamm - Fast & Slow Shutter Speed

Shot with Sony Cyber-Shot, 8 second shutter @ f 3.5, ISO 125 (auto). This semi-lengthy shutter brought out a lot of interesting color by condensing what little light there was on an otherwise dark night. I also like the way that the picture turned out asymmetrically, with the light of the house and moon on the right offset by the clouds and silhouettes on the left.
Shot with Sony Cyber-Shot, 1/1600 shutter @ f 3.5, ISO 125 (auto). For whatever reason my camera is able to capture water better than just about anything else in motion. It's a little monochromatic, but I think the shapes and ripples are interesting, and, compared to some of the other things I tried, the picture is fairly crisp and grain-free.

Bryan Brunatti Assignment #5

Lexi Jones, #5 Shutter

Shot with a Canon EOS Rebel T3i, 1/400 at f 5, 131mm, ISO 800. These are taken at a U of U hockey game. I haven't photographed hockey before, so this was exciting.

Shot with a Canon EOS Rebel T3i, 1/25 at f 5, 79mm, ISO 100.
 Shutter speed 1/400 ISO5000 shot with a Nikon D7000.
 Shutter speed 1/6 ISO5000 shot with a Nikon D7000

Ellie Chamberland Shutter Speed Assignment

Shot with a Canon EOS Rebel XTI, 1/200, f 4, ISO 200.  I like this photo because you can see the movement in the rope toy a little but not in the dog.

Kimberly Roach Shutter

Shot with a Nikon D40, 1/2 @ F 18, 19, ISO 800. I wanted to try a pan motion so I decided a bottle sliding across a counter would be a fun way to try this since my subject this year is food/drink.

Shot with a Nikon D40, 1/60 @ F 5.6, 55, ISO 800.

Aodhan Hayter Assignment #5

Shot with a Pentax K10D, 1/1600 @ f/4.5, 40mm, ISO 400. Just adding a drop of food coloring to water.
Shot with a Pentax K10D, 4s @ f/9, 21mm, ISO 100

Wren Withers - Shutter Speeds

This last weekend I was in Moab mountain biking and camping.  Here are a few shots showing fast and slow shutter speeds.

Here is a fast shutter with a high ISO because it was sunset I think the shutter was 1/2000
This was the fire with a slow shutter I think it was 4"
This was with a half second or one second shutter.

Rachel Hawkes: fast and slow shutter speeds

This photo was shot with a canon powershot SX230, 1/2 at f/8 9.0mm ISO 100.  I just wanted to take a picture of fast moving water with the two shutter speed just to compare.  Both of these shots are taken from the same angle, that was my intent.

This photo was shot with a Canon Powershot SX230, 1/640, at f/3.5 6.7mm ISO 3200. It was snowing so I wanted to get the falling snowflakes in the photo as well. They were not very big snowflakes so they kind of showed up as tiny blurry spots.

Reiko Turner - Shallow and Extended Depth of Field

The first image is taken at aperture setting f 2.
The second image is taken in the same position, but with an aperture setting of f 16.
