I have just returned from my yearly vacation to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. I captured this photo at about 2pm. The sun was harsh and high in the sky (in the west). The hard and natural lighting allowed me to shoot this hammock which was shaded by near by trees. The sun enabled the front light which produced various shadows and hot spots on the lake.

Lauren,
ReplyDeleteWhen taking photos it can be so easy to get excited about an aspect of photography (technical or aesthetic) and it becomes easy to forget the overall scene. Mostly, pictures should tell a story - it is photography's strongest contribution to art. In looking at the components of this photo, I see a hammock in the middle of it. That could be a great story with or without a person in it if it were emphasized more. You have done a nice job of showing some interesting light patterns. If that is your emphasis, you could shoot wide and move in closer to them with the other elements more distant in the background. rT
